In this column I pose questions and raise issues. I don't always agree with the conclusion, implied or stated. The purpose is to put a slightly different spin on each item and to promote discussion.

  • By definition, members of the U.S. Armed Services are "government workers."
  • Exotic dancers make far more than ballet dancers, so which is valued and which is oppressed?
  • A women's studies degree is about as useful as a fish-bicycle.
  • Progressive‑liberals want conservatives to be enraged about Obama, and conservatives who celebrate his historic election annoy them.
  • When nearly everything is equally impossible, then nearly everything is also equally possible.
  • Complaints that racial profiling is racist apply with equal validity to gender, and men are arrested at a much higher rate than women, so does that mean men are victims of sexist profiling?
  • Power is conditionally binary: yes, no and maybe.
  • Karl Marx, author of Das Kapital, a tortured tome that spawned socialist movements around the world, was not a Marxist. He was "Borked."
  • Conservatives generally ignore Indian tribes, which are among the most conservative institutions in the country.
  • For most people in America, aging quickly and sickly is a lifestyle choice.
  • Corporations are inherently feudal.
  • Clinical Depression is emotion. The mind tries to rationalize the emotion by filling in the blanks with words that fit the apathy and despair. Replacing those words with happy thoughts won't repair the part of the brain that is spewing negative emotion, but it can make it manageable.
  • Microsoft is an attention whore. Ballmer & Company want users to center their lives around Microsoft's agenda.
  • Dell used to sell good computers; now they sell subscriptions and payments.
  • "Save the planet" is generally used as a euphemism for "preserve the status quo."
  • Mexico is a corrupt regime run by a wealthy few who rely on America to relieve the pressure on their oppressed people. A secure border between our nations will probably cause a civil war in Mexico.
  • Everybody seems to hate hate. As my sister used to joke, "Down with violence, kill extremists!" But to hate hate is to hate emotion. Should we condemn some feelings like hate, or harmful expressions?
  • Athens was never the democracy imagined. Only members of the ruling class were allowed to vote.
  • During transition from Clinton to Bush an important report was overlooked and 9-11 was the consequence. Bush took great pains to ensure that did not happen during transition to Obama. Mean-spirited leftist loons, however, claim Bush did that not to ensure a smooth transition, but to overload President Obama. They see their own evil intentions reflected in every act of Bush no matter how good his intentions.
  • The pre-election run up in oil prices was an OPEC referendum on the Bush Administration: America's enemies don't want a repeat of the past 8 years.
