Katie Couric advocates sexual violence

On the November 25, 1997, edition of NBC's TODAY show, Katie Couric interviewed Nicole Contos, the jilted bride of Tasos Michael. Why Mr. Michael bailed out of the wedding shall remain fertilizer for voyeuristic talk shows.

In her interview with Nicole, Katie Couric asked "Have you considered castration as an option?" Why Katie Couric did this is a very serious issue for public retort.

by Dave Usher, Chairman

On Tuesday, November 25, 1997, Katie Couric recommended genital mutilation of Tasos Michael, in an interview with his jilted bride, Nicole Contos.

At worst, what Mr. Michael did would never be cause for sexual mutilation as an avenue for personal retribution.

It is deeply misandristic, sexist, and inexcusably inappropriate for a national talk show host to suggest genital mutilation of another person as a socially acceptable course of action for individuals.

What would you do if one of your hosts suggested cutting off the breasts of a woman who jilted her husband to be? That host would be fired immediately. What would you do if one of your hosts suggested the sexual mutilation of a black person for some minor social infraction? That host would be fired immediately.

I expect Katie Couric's resignation to be forthcoming, and without any hesitation whatsoever.

It is perverse for her to put America's women up to sexual mutilation of men. Katie is a sick, deeply bigoted woman who cannot be trusted to speak for, or to America. This is a very serious issue. Do not ignore it.
