Divorced Dads fight back
If anyone is interested in seeing a great article written about
Divorced Dads and their attempts at changing legislation in other states and
California... Look at the September issue (when it comes out on the news stands)
of Good Housekeeping. The article is Titled: "DIVORCED DADS
FIGHTBACK". Sub heading: Tired of being called Deadbeats, divorced fathers
are battling for their rights - and challenging child-support laws they say are unfair.
But as the war heats up, kids will get caught in the cross fire.
It's an article that starts out with a Father in New Jersey that has fought all the way
to the State Supreme Court (and lost but caught the eye of the State commisson
reviewing child-support guidelines). This Father feels that if the parents have
50/50 and they both make the same amount of money, that there should be no
child support awards at all. That each parent has equal time and so they both hold
the responsibility for their time with their children.
It's a great article that seems to slant more on the Fathers side, even though there
are quote and vague stats on the Mothers side.
I subscribe, so I got an advanced copy. I believe that it comes out in the stores in
about 1- 11/2 weeks.
