Welfare reform -- No room for Daddy?

by Bill Harrington

The American Fathers Coalition, in cooperation with the National Congress for Men & Children, will sponsor a Congressional Symposium in early March 1995 to provide new Congressional leaders with specific measures to be included in new legislation from the perspective of concerned and responsible fathers.

March 6, 1995, Congressional symposium 9am-12Noon, welfare reform is for fathers, too, at the Hart Senate Office Building, 9th floor.

Harrington announced a joint effort to hold a fathers' movement symposium on positive fathers parenting issues to educate Congressional staff members on new policies that are Pro-Family and Father-Friendly.

These issues affect custody and baby-sitting as a father's first option, enforcement of parenting time between children and fathers, access counseling, and several matters that affect rights and responsibilities of unmarried paternity fathers.

Six or 7 panelists will discuss and promote specific policies and supporting academic research for the various recommended proposals and explain them to other Congressional staff members.
