Ritzy and I took a week off, the first in years, to drive an acquaintance to California, stopping to visit His Son The Producer (of Focus on the Family) in Colorado and Daniel Amneus in L.A. Went to the mountain again with Dan, an inspirational outing with the wisest man I know. The Brits appreciate his wisdom, even if some here do not. He will be the featured speaker at the United Kingdom Men's Movement inaugural London conference in November.

The good professor always stimulates my thinking. Here is some of it. Obviously moral standards have deteriorated. As an editorial in the Wall Street Journal said, "We live in a society without guard rails." There is a widespread impression, supported by the noted philosopher George Gilder, that women are morally superior to men. Opposing Gilder, Professor Amneus says women are inherently more promiscuous than men, held in check primarily by the civilizing influence of a patriarchal culture, now fast disappearing. If I may presume to judge my intellectual superiors, Amneus is the more accurate, and "Gilder's fallacy" is held primarily by old fashioned men with old fashioned mothers. Moral or not, due to the possibility of pregnancy, wise women more so than men will withhold sexual activity until marriage, making them seem more moral. Amneus argues that patriarchy created civilization eons ago, and could salvage it today.

The distinction between new agers and traditionalists, of both sexes, is as large and as important as that between masculinists and feminists. Traditionalists accept both patriarchy and chivalry while new agers eschew them, except for many feminists who demand to retain the privileges of chivalry, to have-their-cake-and-eat-it-too, without the "burdens" of patriarchy. That is impossible of course; the two are inseparable. Men who agree with these irrational demands are traitors not only to their gender, but to society.
